We are pleased to announce the forum program of the BookBook Festival. The forum will take place on Thursday, the 11th, and Friday, the 12th, featuring 11 participating publishers across 11 sessions. Discussions will address issues of distribution and production in relation to art book fairs, questions of regional identity including “Asianness,” as well as concerns around design and making. Rather than a one-way lecture format, the sessions will unfold in diverse forms such as discussions and performances. All programs are free and open to the public without prior registration, though please note that some sessions may run longer than scheduled.

Multiple Spirits will introduce their practices of zine-making and exhibition-making, alongside research into print culture that has informed their work. They will explore how representations of gender and sexuality in magazines from the late nineteenth century to the present have been shaped, challenged, and reimagined, and how queer feminist networks have continually renewed media as sites of resistance. The presentation will also reflect on the differences between their activities in Tokyo and Vienna.

Projects initiated by Bangkok CityCity Gallery, such as BOOKSHOP LIBRARY and BANGKOK ART BOOK FAIR, have functioned not as fixed platforms but as stages for reflection, experimentation, and archiving in relation to the city we live in. This presentation builds on these processes to share perspectives on the possibilities of contemporary art and publishing.
