샤샤 한은 싱가포르를 거점으로 활동하며, 동남아시아에서 개최되는 다양한 영화제의 현장경험을 바탕으로 영화비평/에세이 글을 써오고 있으며 다양한 지역에서 개최되는 영화제를 매개로 동남아시아 지역 내 영화현장을 연결하고 확장하는 데에도 관심을 기울이고 있습니다.
이번 대담에서는 올해 열린 The 7th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival와 캄보디아에서 두 번째로 개최된 The Kampung Film Festival 등, 동남아시아 영화 현장의 생생한 경험을 소개합니다. 더불어, 샤샤 한이 기고한 텍스트를 중심으로 그가 주목하는 영화적 시선과 비평의 관점에 대해 이야기를 나눕니다.

그녀는 바라보는 행위 속에 담긴 포착할 수 없는 순간들을 글을 통해 구체화하는 시도를 하고 있다. 특히 동남아시아에서 이미지가 어떻게 유통되고, 그 이미지들이 저항의 가능성을 지닐 수 있는지에 관심이 많다. 로카르노 영화제, 극동영화제, 싱가포르국제영화제의 비평 워크숍에 참여했으며, 다양한 영화제의 경험을 바탕으로 아시안 필름 아카이브, 다큐멘터리 매거진, 필름 코멘트, MARG1N 매거진, 메콩 리뷰, MUBI 노트북, 싱가포르 영화 협회 등 다양한 곳에 글을 기고했다.
On Wednesday, July 30th at 7 PM, we have arranged a talk at The Book Society with Sasha Han, a film writer based in Singapore. Sasha Han contributes writings based on her firsthand experiences at various film festivals held across Southeast Asia and plays a key role in connecting and facilitating these activities.
In this talk, she will share about how she navigates the movement of Southeast Asian moving images through her experiences at the 7th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival and the second edition of The Kampung Film Festival in Cambodia, amongst others.
Additionally, based on the texts she has contributed, we will have a conversation about the perspectives she highlights in her film writing

Seeks to reify the fugitive effects of looking through language. Broadly, she is interested in the circulation of images in Southeast Asia and its potential for resistance. She has been part of critics labs in Locarno Film Festival, Far East Film Festival, and the Singapore International Film Festival. Her writing has been published by the Asian Film Archive, Documentary Magazine, Film Comment, MARG1N Magazine, Mekong Review, MUBI Notebook, and the Singapore Film Society.
